Sylvain Gagnon

Main coach of the competition team, Sylvain is also available for private classes. He has over 40 years of experience in Olympic boxing coaching and he was the trainer of world champions Jean Pascal and Éric Lucas, Sylvain has developed many boxers at different levels, provincial, national and international. He coached boxing teams at the World Championships, Pan-Am Games, Commonwealth Games, Jeux de la Francophonie as well as the Olympic Games in London in 2012.

João Carlos Barros

Just before joining our team, João was the head coach of Canada’s national boxing team since 2017. He previously led the Brazilian national team for 20 years and enjoyed vast success, winning medals at the World Championships and the Olympics with his teams. He came to share his massive experience and highly advanced technical skills with our competitive and recreational boxers. He will help maximize the development of young talents, in collaboration with the group of coaches in our team. João is available for private boxing lessons, so you too can learn from one of the very best.

Patrice Volny

Active professional boxer and WBA Middleweight Canadian Champion, Patrice is also a coach for the competition team, private and group classes. With over 60 amateur fights and more than fifteen pro fights, Patrice wants to share his passion and experience with competitive and recreational boxers.

Léo Kwitkowski

Group and private classes coach with almost 60 years of experience in boxing, Leo is a level-4 certified boxing trainer with a reputation of being one of the best technical coaches in Canada. Former Poland national champion, he boxed all across Europe totalling over 230 amateur fights. Deeply passionate about boxing, he loves to develop new young talents and help recreational boxers become the best version of themselves.

Patrick Côté

Passionate about strength and conditioning since his teenage years, he fell in love with boxing when he started training at Club de Boxe de l’Est in 2011. After five years of training at the Club as a member, he decides to leave his corporate marketing job to jump into the adventure of managing the Club full-time since the Fall of 2016.

Voltaire Thomas

Now a level-2 boxing coach, Voltaire has been a very active amateur boxer for many years with over 60 fights for Club de Boxe de l’Est. Having won many provincial titles over the years and now retired from competing, Voltaire has decided to obtain his boxing coach levels and join our team as a coach.
Voltaire is involved in all type of trainings: competitive and recreational though group classes and private training. He loves to share his passion, teach the sport of boxing and maximize the potential of every athlete.

Karl Christopher Deloys

Karl Christopher Deloys has won the 86 kg Canadian Championship at age 25 in 2023. He began boxing in 2013 at Club de Boxe de l’Est with Leonard Kwitkowski who is still his coach after all these years. Karl is passionate about boxing and nutrition. He plans to get a university degree in nutrition and pursue his boxing certifications alongside. As a level-1 boxing coach, he loves to share his passion and teach boxing to athletes (competitive or recreational) no matter their age or level.

Kinesiology student at Université de Montréal, Maxence is a competitive powerlifter with boxing knowledge and experience. He can help you improve your strength, body composition and conditioning, in group classes and private training.
