Sylvain Gagnon

Main coach of the competition team, Sylvain is also available for private classes. He has over 40 years of experience in Olympic boxing coaching and he was the trainer of world champions Jean Pascal and Éric Lucas, Sylvain has developed many boxers at different levels, provincial, national and international. He coached boxing teams at the World Championships, Pan-Am Games, Commonwealth Games, Jeux de la Francophonie as well as the Olympic Games in London in 2012.

Just before joining our team, João was the head coach of Canada’s national boxing team since 2017. He previously led the Brazilian national team for 20 years and enjoyed vast success, winning medals at the World Championships and the Olympics with his teams. He came to share his massive experience and highly advanced technical skills with our competitive and recreational boxers. He will help maximize the development of young talents, in collaboration with the group of coaches in our team. João is available for private boxing lessons, so you too can learn from one of the very best.

Patrice Volny

Active professional boxer and WBA Middleweight Canadian Champion, Patrice is also a coach for the competition team, private and group classes. With over 60 amateur fights and more than fifteen pro fights, Patrice wants to share his passion and experience with competitive and recreational boxers.

Boxing and boxing-specific conditioning coach, Momo has many years of experience and over 80 amateur fights. He was a member of the National Team in 2016 after his win in the 69kg Canadian Championships. He also won major tournaments like the Golden Gloves, Champion’s Challenge (Défi des Champions) and participated in international competitions. His main objective as a coach is to facilitate the learning of different boxing techniques by focusing on basic and safe methods.

Group and private classes coach with almost 60 years of experience in boxing, Leo is a level-4 certified boxing trainer with a reputation of being one of the best technical coaches in Canada. Former Poland national champion, he boxed all across Europe totalling over 230 amateur fights. Deeply passionate about boxing, he loves to develop new young talents and help recreational boxers become the best version of themselves.

Analytical, precise and detail-oriented, he believes those small adjustments make a big difference to make recreational and competitive boxers evolve. Sylvain can lead as much a group class as a private class and he can definitely help you push your own limits.

Steven Harvey

Level-1 boxing coach, Steven is available for private classes. With over 80 amateurs fights in career, he has been the 3 times Quebec Champion, 2 times Canadian Champion, has won the gold medal at the Copa Romana in 2009, won the bronze medal at the Pan-American selections in 2011 and represented Canada at the Pan-American Games in 2011. He started his professional boxing career in 2012 and fought 6 times as a professional.

Racim Badji

Despite his young age, Racim has almost five years of boxing training experience and a few amateur fights. After two years as an assistant trainer, he has been named coach in September 2019. He had the opportunity to work with experienced coaches like Leo Kwitkowski and Sylvain Gagnon and learn from their combined 100 year-experience. Racim was also involved in day camps over the last two years which make him a very coach with the kids. He is available for private classes mostly for families, teenagers and kids.

David Pelletier

With many years of experience as a boxer and as a coach, David is passionate about teaching boxing. His background and degrees as a school teacher help him constantly search for new training techniques and methods. He then demonstrates them in a detailed and positive way to the boxers he coaches.David solely focuses his time and efforts with a group of elite amateur boxers to which he fully dedicates to help them achieve their highest levels.

Level-2 boxing coach, Sylvain is as good teaching the foundations of boxing to beginners as fine-tuning advanced boxers. He has over 25 years of experience in boxing as a coach and started boxing over 30 years ago in the province of Quebec.

Level-2 boxing coach, Mike is a real boxing enthusiast and an eternal student of the game. Mike is totally dedicated to his small group of elite boxers and guiding them to reach their full potential.

Yves Larose

Boxing coach for group classes for 8 to 12 years old kids (PB8 Program) , Yves has over 25 years of experience as a school teacher and a degree in physical education, a level-1 boxing coach and PNCE certifications as well. He coaches at Club de Boxe de l’Est since 2009.

Paul Abet

Paul is a kinesiologist and movement and strength and conditioning specialist. He can help you prepare for a specific sport (developing your strength, power or endurance) or help you heal your injuries and bones/muscles issues. Crossfit trainer and former triathlete and runner at National level in France, he has a vast experience in sports. He loves sharing knowledge, motivate and help recreational and competitive athletes achieve their objectives.

Mixed martial arts coach: Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, Filipino Kali and much more. Tae Kwon Do enthusiast since 1986, he earned a black belt with instructor Walid Saliba. Former boxer since 1988, he trained with Sylvain, Hercules Kyvelos and the Grant brothers. He has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He masters the handling of weapons, such as knives, the single stick, the double stick and empty hands.

Patrick Côté

Passionate about strength and conditioning since his teenage years, he fell in love with boxing when he started training at Club de Boxe de l’Est in 2011. After five years of training at the Club as a member, he decides to leave his corporate marketing job to jump into the adventure of managing the Club full-time since the Fall of 2016.
